Glow Swim for Alex vs ALS

Story

On Friday 11th October we’re doing something a little crazy! Alex has ALS and cannot walk unaided. He has found a new love for open water swimming though, which we have been doing now for around 3 weeks, with the support of Richard Smith from Tribal Triathlon. Alex has been learning front crawl in the 30m+ deep Vobster Quay. Our daughter Lois who is only 10 has been joining us too! The water is currently around 15c so she gets cold very quickly but has done some brilliant swimming.

Richard has invited us to swim together as a family in the darkness at Vobster Quay for the sold out Glow Swim event to raise funds for the MNDa. We’ll suit up in our wetsuits and swim with just the three of us together our to the pontoon in front of 200 other swimmers who’ll leap in for their swim shortly after we’re finished. We’ll have glow sticks attached to our swim caps and hopefully the light of the full moon.

Please support this fantastic achievement by Alex and very brave undertaking by Lois with a small donation to our overall goal of raising £1 million for research into treatments and hopefully a cure for this horrible disease.
